Thanks to great effort from the Harbour Master and team at the Port of Mumbai, our heavy lift K-class vessel Fairmaster is now permitted to enter the lock leading to the Indira Dock in Mumbai.
With this change, K-class size vessels can now load/unload cargoes during monsoon season in the more sheltered waters of Mumbai and we can continue to take care of our client’s cargoes whatever the weather.
As you can see from the images, it’s a tight fit and the passage understandably needs to take place during daylight hours. The entrance lock is 228.6 metres long and 30.5 metres wide. HLV Fairmaster has a beam overall (hull)/width of 27.74 metres making it just the right fit.
A jumbo thank you to the team at Port of Mumbai for showing flexibility and some creative thinking to make this work safely and reliably.
